Great place to stay. The location isn’t the safest or I didn’t feel safe enough, as many homeless people were on street and buildings were really careless condition. Staff is really friendly and everyone was helpful if I had a question. This is the hostel-world. Room was clean and restrooms were cleaned daily, guest can use compliment shampoo and body wash. Everyday clean towel supplied to bathrooms. Every morning guests can do their pancake and have a cup of coffee with no charge. Hostel has a hot tub which looked clean despite it was in use everyday. There are free tours organised in the hostel everyday (only tip required for driver as all based on volunteer basis). There are several shops around its street including cafes, food trucks, gas station( with great coffee too), gift shops and other accommodations. Recommended place to stay.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at banana bungalow and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. What made my experience truly memorable were the amazing people I met during my stay. The staff and fellow travelers were friendly, welcoming, and made me feel right at home. One of the highlights of my stay was the availability of recreational activities. The hostel had pool tables and ping pong tables, which provided endless hours of fun and friendly competition. It was a great way to unwind and bond with other guests. The hostel also offered daily tours, which made exploring the city and its surroundings incredibly convenient. The knowledgeable guides provided fascinating insights and made sure we experienced the best of what the area had to offer. Lastly, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the hostel had a jacuzzi. After a long day of sightseeing, taking a dip in the jacuzzi was the perfect way to relax and rejuvenate. It added an extra touch of luxury to my stay. Overall, I highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a fantastic experience. The amazing people, the recreational activities, the daily tours, and the jacuzzi all contributed to a truly unforgettable stay.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! We got our phones and our documents stolen from a private room! Yes, it's a private room, not a shared room, and it was locked by key, and someone just came from the closed window while we were outside! And imagine that it was around 4:30 p.m., so everyone was there and around! Can you imagine? And guess what? Anyone can take off the window and just enter! And they know that very well, and the police told us it happened the same way many times before, and they all know the person, but they didn't fix the problem or put a more secure window!!! And the next day, the workers entered our room by key while we were out, and since it's a private room, they shouldn't enter without permission at all! Which made me think they have a hand in this because how can the person know each time we go out!? This place told us they have a high crime rate, and they know very well the people who do this! The room is terrible! We paid near $200 per night for a private room that was really bad, old, and so small that it didn't have anything. There is no AC, the room is so hot, there is no private restroom, and there is not even a mini refrigerator. And if people talk outside, you can feel that they are with you inside the room, and the location is bad and far from everything. They also get people to volunteer to work for free and just give them a terrible bed in a terrible room, and that's it without any money for them like slaves. The owner is young, and she doesn't know how to run a business. She just cares about making so much money without spending any money to improve this terrible place. She didn't care at all about what happened, as it's normal for them and it happened many times before, and she even came after to apologize, check on us, or offer anything, even if it's simple! This place is horrible! If I had the authority, I would shut down this place immediately for lack of security. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

BB is the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at-minus the noisy chickens at night. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and engaged with the guest. They feel more like friends than staff! BB does an excellent job of keeping the entire place clean. There is lots of comradery each morning in the kitchen cooking the free pancakes they provide and again at dinner time. Feels like a fun family on vacation. They also provide yummy coffee each morning. Billy is also the BEST TOUR GUIDE ever!!!!! :)

Enjoyed our stay at this hostel. There are no thrills, yet that’s the beauty of a hostel. Stayed in a private room that was clean and had what I needed. The option for a private bathroom is a huge plus. The common area is really neat and a great place to meet new people. And who doesn’t like a hot tub? The location is close to the airport and in a small town with things you can walk to.

Amazing time meeting some amazing people from all over the world. Tours are a great way to see the island and do fun activities with other people at the hostel as well. Would definitely recommend and s/o Matteo :)

My friend and I (both in our early 50s) stayed in a private room with two twin beds for 8 nights. Pros: really nice mix of guests (ages, countries of origin, etc.), most washrooms are individual, beds were surprisingly comfortable, our room had a ceiling room (A/C was not necessary), staff members were really good, a great selection of daily tours Cons: location is horrible (Wailuku is a strange, empty town far from from everything good on Maui), rooms are noisy, especially if they face the main road. TIPS: make sure you have the exterior gate code before arriving, bring earplugs (re: noise), bring your own towel for showering (unless you aren't fussy), RENT A CAR if you can!

Been to the hostel for the third time now - In the past it was not the cleanest place, but that has changed drastically! Now there are amenities like soap/shampoo dispensers and other little touches. A perfect hostel for solo travellers, as there is always someone to drink a beer or hangout with. Also the staff is really nice and the tours are amazing! (they are free, but tips are appreciated as the drivers are volunteers) Many thanks to Eleni, Natalie, Billy, Annabelle, Elsa, Kilah and the rest of the staff, this won't be my last visit :)
